MoFlo Astrios EQ from Beckman Coulter

Since 2018, the Ruhr-Universität Bochum has had a HighSpeed Cell Sorter, which was funded by the DFG through a large-scale equipment application. This device has been in operation at the Centre for Clinical Research since the beginning of 2019.

The new device replaces a FACS Vantage Cell Sorter, which was previously used as a cell sorter at the Ruhr University Bochum.

The existing configuration of our device:

- 405 nm violet laser (e.g. DAPI, Cascade Blue, AmCyan).

- 488 nm blue laser (e.g. FITC, PE, PE-Texas Red, PerCP-Cy5-5, PE-Cy7)

- 561 nm yellow laser (e.g. PE, Tomato, ds Red)

- 633 nm red laser (e.g. APC, Alexa Fluor 700, APC-Cy7)

We can offer the following sorting options:

- Fractionation of cell mixtures into up to six different populations from one sample, sorting in tubes

- Deposition of cells (also of single cells) in microtitre plates (6- to 384-well plates) or on slides

The sorter is integrated into a class 2 workbench and is located in an S2 environment, so that S2 GMOs can also be sorted.

The Sorting Core Facility is open for use by all interested researchers (possibly on a collaborative basis). A fee of 50,- € per hour will be charged for each sorting appointment to cover running costs (e.g. start-up and shut-down of fluidics, adjustment of instruments, consumables and maintenance). The FCS files are archived and can be copied by the individual users. The sorter is operated exclusively by the technical staff of the facility.
